Given national polls, Belinda’s retirement from politics and indications such as internal polling and signs; I am quite confident that this riding will go Blue. Lois Brown looks like a strong bet to go to Ottawa in the riding of Newmarket-Aurora.

From the canvasing I’ve done the vote seems pretty evenly split between Liberal and Conservative. It feels close. There are no NDP signs up yet. It is hard to say how much support the Greens are getting.

I think that Newmarket-Aurora has a strong Liberal lean in terms of a federal election. When Belinda was a Con, she only took the riding by 700 votes, but when she went Liberal and many people screamed blue murder, she won by 5000.

I think Jones will take the riding by 2000 votes. He has public service experience that Brown sorely lacks, and Brown appears to be an elitist, which puts off many people in the riding.

With the Liberals losing ground in the 905 belt, I think the Tories should take this.

I think the polls are changing in Harper’s favour during the last couple of days – if the Conservatives are 4 points or more ahead in Ontario, I think Lois Brown will defeat Tim Jones – just my guess! JACK
