I endorsed Linda Duncan a while ago, because I think that we need people like her (i.e., those committed to education issues) in the House of Commons.
Since I don’t live in her Edmonton riding, I won’t be able to vote for her personally, but the good news is that a Liberal, daveberta, has now announced that he’ll be voting for her:
After some long and difficult thinking, I have decided that I will be voting for Edmonton-Strathcona NDP candidate Linda Duncan.
It seems that Linda’s momentum is growing, and she may even have a real chance of winning the riding – yes, in a province where all 28 seats are currently held by Conservatives. If anyone can pull it off, it’s Linda. Go, Linda, go.

In fact if she is successful (and I hope she is) she will be only the second New Democrat ever elected to the Canadian House of Commons from the Province of Alberta!
The other was this man:

WOW! I just read this on the ‘Liberals for Linda’ blog you linked to:
“I understand that many of my fellow partisans are reluctant to come forward, for fear of reprisal or social stone-walling”
If this is true, it harkens back to 19th century elections when not raising your hand (no secret ballot then) at the ‘right’ time, or raising it at the ‘wrong’ time, could get you a beating.
Re: only second NDP from AB, this is true. However,
apparently in the election of 1921, two independent Labour MPs were elected in Canada. One, not surprisingly given the 1919 strike, was from Winnipeg (J.S. Woodsworth, later the leader of the CCF). The other was elected in Calgary, and was William Irvine. He later represented Wetaskiwin for the United Farmers of Alberta, and a BC riding for the CCF.
So only two NDP members, but not only two social democrats.
Linda Duncan for the win. I am in Edm-Strath, as are two of my now-adult children. That’s 3 for Linda.
I’m another Linda fan and I’ve won my husband over for her too. Go Linda! She’s great but I am also so sick of seeing the polls predicting all of Alberta going to the conservatives.
