Peterborough Conservative candidate Dean Del Mastro has been having a few problems with the spelling of the word “re-elect” on some of his signs. Surprisingly, no one in his office noticed until supporters started bringing the signs back. This isn’t the first time Del Mastro has been criticized in the local media for his spelling, last spring he came under fire when a few of his numerous mail-outs where found to contain typos.

From what I understand, Conservative Party National Office creates the templates for the signs – in order to encourage consistency across all the riding across Canada.
I presume this is a printing error. Also, if it was an error that affected all of DelMastro’s signed, it would be impossible to fix in the middle of a campaign.
They probably just picked up the signs and no one bothered to look to see if there was any printing errors.
How could I forget about democraticSPACE…
And their seat projections. Right now they are predicting a minority government (which is what I’ve been saying all along). CP: 150 LP: 86 BQ: 40 NDP: 30 I actually think the Conservatives will win less seats than that. And……
“where found to contain typos.”
Did you do that on purpose?
I think one of the biggest stories in the election so far (at last the one that has prompted the most Letters to the Editor of The Peterborough Examiner) is the controversy surrounding the Little Lake resort development project that Dean Del Mastro brought forward on the eve of the election. Brendan Wedley had a pretty remarkable cover story on the issue earlier in the week:
“MP mum on project builder
Records link Towerhill Developments, Melody Homes to $90M Little Lake resort/convention centre pan”

Miranda, is there a place at Democratic Space where you can post the dates/info for all the upcoming all-candidates debates? If so, here’s the info that I have as of today. If anyone knows of others, please post it here. I’m keeping track of this on my blog, too. It’s surprisingly difficult to find this info online.
Thanks, Ann

I’ll also try to remember to come back here to pass along any updates.
Hi again, Miranda -
I think there are a total of 14 all-candidates debates in our riding. The ones that are still to come are all listed in my blog under the URL listed in the comment above.
I’ve also been posting updates about the arts funding cuts meetings that ARTSPACE and the Peterborough Arts Umbrella have been coordinating on behalf of artists and other concerned citizens who are concerned about the arts funding cuts and their impact on our riding. There is also excellent information on this topic on the Peterborough Arts Umbrella website:
http://www.pauarts.com
There are still a couple of opportunities left to see the candidates debate the issues in Peterborough Riding. You’ll find the latest updates @

This article in The Toronto Star provides an interesting look at the train issue. Have you seen it?
