A large problem I see with elections is that many voters simply vote for the incumbent if they don’t know who to vote for. They have no idea what their incumbent MP has done in their term. “Oh, well they were elected last time; They MUST know what they’re doing!”
I say bull. Contact your MP and see what they’ve done for YOU. Are they looking out for YOUR interests? If you own a business, are they working to protect small businesses? Is the MP working for family support to help you raise your children? If you are a firm believer in protecting the environment, are they putting the pressure on to reduce greenhouse gasses?
Voters this election must ask themselves a crucial question; Has your MP been looking out for numero uno… you.
If they haven’t, get them out of office. Vote against them. Canada needs proactive MPs that are accountable to their constituents, not useless backbenchers that are there for the money.
Now I don’t mean just the Conservatives, I mean all parties. Each riding must take a critical look at their incumbent and decide if they’re doing the job. We write their paycheck, they are accountable to us.
